(CdSe)ZnS Core-Shell Quantum Dots: Synthesis and Characterization of a Size Series of Highly Luminescent Nanocrystallites.

-Highly luminescent (CdSe)ZnS composite quantum dots with CdSe cores of 23-55 Å diameter are prepared by pyrolysis of organometallic precursors (CdMe 2 , ZnEt 2 , Tms 2 S, and trioctylphosphine selenide). The narrow photoluminescence from these composite dots ranges from blue to red with quantum yields of 30-50% at room temperature. The optical and structural properties of the material are studied by a variety of techniques.
