-Based on the enantioselective phenylalanine-catalyzed annulation of 2-methyl-1,3-cyclopentadione (II) with phenylsulfanylmethyl vinyl ketone (I), an asymmetric synthesis of building blocks [cf. (VI)] for the synthesis of vitamin D analogues is reported. -
