Buckled-Layered Structure of Zinc Dicyanamide, Zn II [N(CN) 2 ] 2 . -The title compound (III) represents the first structurally characterized tetrahedral metal dicyanamide complex. The compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pnma with Z = 4 and possesses a hitherto unknown two-dimensional buckled-layered structure (noninterpenetrating motif). Each Zn II bonds to four [N(CN) 2 ] -anions in a nearly ideal square Zn•••Zn metal array and each [N(CN) 2 ] -is µ-bonded to two Zn II centers. -(MANSON,
