Boronated Thiophenols: A Preparation of 4-Mercaptophenylboronic Acid and Derivatives.
-The title boronic acid (III) is prepared by an efficient method starting with Tbs-protected thiol (I). Tbs is found to be the most suitable protecting group that allows subsequent regeneration of the mercapto group after boration. Acid (III) is S-alkylated with bromide (IV) without protection of the boronic acid group. Treatment of protected boron compound (IX) with TFA removes only the ester group. -(BRIKH,
