β¦ Synopsis
Application of Palladium(0)-Catalyzed Processes to the Synthesis of Oxazole-Containing Partial Ergot Alkaloids. -A novel palladium(0)and copper(I)-cocatalyzed cyanation is developed to provide efficient and reproducible access to the key intermediate (V). The desired alkaloid (VIII) is obtained by condensation of aryl aldehyde (VI) with tosylmethyl isocyanide (VII). The other desired product (X) is prepared from intermediate (III) by direct introduction of the oxazole substituent in the presence of a palladium(0) catalyst prepared in situ.
