An Improvement to the Vaultier Tandem Sequence: A Practical Highly Stereoselective Three-Component Reaction.

-With a view to the synthesis of the clerodin skeleton, the cycloaddition of bora-1,3-dienes (I) and methyl acrylate is run in the presence of the aldehyde (III). This results in trapping of the Diels-Alder adducts and avoids the degradation, which is observed when the reaction is carried out in two steps.
