โฆ Synopsis
An Improved Heterogeneous Asymmetric Epoxidation of Homoallylic Alcohols Using Polymer-Supported Ti(IV) Catalysts.
-Polyesters with different degrees of branching/crosslinking, prepared by condensation polymerization of L-tartaric acid and 1,8-octanediol, are applied as ligands in the Ti(IV)-catalyzed epoxidation of four different homoallylic alcohols. Although the reactions are found to proceed much better using roughly stoichiometric levels of catalysts, the system remains catalytic. The enantioselectivities (30-80%) and chemical yields (up to 75%) obtained are significantly higher than with monomeric tartrate ligands. -(KARJALAINEN, JAANA K.; HORMI,
