✦ Synopsis
An Efficient Chemical-Enzymatic Synthesis of 4-Nitrophenyl β-Xylobioside: A Chromogenic Substrate for Xylanases.
-A facile synthesis of the title compound (V) from xylobiose (I), which is easily accessible from birchwood xylan via extensive enzymatic digestion with xylanase T-6, is accomplished. The five-step transformation provides a high overall yield of (V) and is amenable to gram-scale preparations.
