-Both six-membered rings have very similar chair conformations, the . gamma.-lactone ring has envelope conformation, and the furyl ring is planar. Crystal packing involves an inter-and intramolecular bifurcated hydrogen bond, linking the hydroxy O atom at C-5 with the oxo O atom at C-4. Title compound (I) is an insect antifeedant.
