Alternative Route for Synthesis of Barium Titanyl Oxalate: Molecular Precursor for Microcrystalline Barium Titanate Powders.

-Ba titanyl oxalate (VI) is prepared in a three-step process according to the scheme via a soluble precursor (IV) which in iPrOH solution is subjected to cation exchange reaction with aqueous (V). Pyrolysis of ( VI) in air at ≈750 • C yields microcrystalline barium titanate powders for use in the ceramic capacitor industry. -(
