✦ Synopsis

Activated Cyclooctenones are Effective Dienophiles.

-The first Diels-Alder addition of dienes to activated cyclooctenones is described in view of the interest of the adducts as key intermediates in the synthesis of natural products. The Lewis acid catalyzed addition proceeds under mild conditions in high yield and with moderate to high and predictable stereochemistry. -
