✦ Synopsis

Starting from the D-mannitol derivative (I), a straightforward synthesis of the chiral oxazolidines (VII) including precursors (VIIb) and (VIIc) of linezolid and eperezolid is detailed. Furthermore, the azide (VIIb) is converted to linezolid (IX) with thioacetic acid.
