A 2-Thioquinoline Sulfide as a Masked Sulfhydryl Moiety.
-2-Thioquinoline (II) is easily introduced through S N 2 displacement with the thymidine analogue (I). It serves as masked sulfhydryl entity which is stable against bases, acids, and nucleophiles. Unmasking is readily achieved by NaBH 3 CN in acetic acid and following hydrolysis. -
