A Novel Glycosylation of 3-Deoxy-D-glycero-D-galacto-2-nonulosonic Acid (KDN) via in situ Pyranose-Furanose Rearrangement. -The title glycosylation is examined in more detail. A proposed mechanism for the ring contracted KND-derivative (V) is discussed. It is noteworthy that all yields are lower if AgOTf is used as Lewis acid.
