A New Method for the Synthesis of Fluoro-Carbohydrates and Glycosides Using Selectfluor.

-The first examples of a high-yield, one-pot fluorination and anomeric functionalization of a carbohydrate are described, which circumvents multiple steps of previous synthetic methodology. Selectfluor is relatively inexpensive, safe, and easy to handle and its use provides a safe and efficient technique for the synthesis of 2-deoxy-2-fluoro sugars. -
