β¦ Synopsis
A General Solution Route Toward Metal Boride Nanocrystals. -Nanocrystals of NbB2, CaB6, HfB2, CeB6, MoB4, FeB, and Mn2B are prepared by reaction of the corresponding metal chlorides and sodium borohydride in a eutectic LiCl/KCl melt (Ar flow, 700-900 Β°C, 4 h). The samples are characterized by XRD, SEM, and TEM. This ionothermal process is applicable to a wide range of compounds and enables the formation of novel nanostructures and control over the nanocrystal size and the material texture. Processing of the nanoparticles within borosilicate glass-ceramic composites and tuning of the material conductivity are also described. -(PORTEHAULT*, D.; DEVI,
