A Facile Synthesis of α-Iodo-β-nitroalkenes from Alkynes Using I 2 /NO 3 -or KI/NO 3 -.

-The title synthesis is safer and more convenient than that with the known reagent I 2 /N 2 O 4 . The reaction can be applied to an internal alkyne as well as a terminal one and gives the (E) isomers as the main products. -(YUSUBOV, M.
