A Facile KF/Al 2 O 3 -Mediated Method for the Synthesis of Substituted Oxazolidinones.

-Oxazolidinones (I) and (IV) are substituted at the 3-position by a novel method using the solid supported reagent KF on alumina as a base in the presence of alkyl bromides, isocyanates, or tosyl chloride. Other electrophiles, such as acid chlorides, anhydrides, and epoxides fail to produce the desired products under the above reaction conditions. -
