✦ Synopsis

A Convenient Synthesis of 4,5-Bis(trifluoromethyl)pyridazines.

-3-Hydrazono-1,1,1-trifluoroalkan-2-ones (I) undergo acid-catalyzed selfcondensation to give the title compounds in moderate yields. The hydrazones are also capable of cycloaddition reactions to acetylene dicarboxylate.
