β¦ Synopsis
A Convenient Access to N,N-Disubstituted Amides Derived from (1R,3S)-(-)-2,2-Dimethyl-3-formylcyclopropane-1-carboxylic Acid.
-The enantiopure title amides are obtained in three steps from biocartol (I). Deprotection of the mono-N-substituted amides did not give the expected aldehydes such as (VII), instead they rearrange to a bicyclic lactam form (VI). The dithione-protected N-benzylic amide (Va) is stable in the open form.
