-A synthesis of the steganone analogue (XII) is given. Steganone is a member of a family of compounds found in the Ethiopian shrub Steganotaenia araliciae which show activity against P-388 leukemia in mice and against cells derived from human carcinoma of the nasopharynx (KB).
