## Abstract magnified image 2,6‐Dimethyl‐7,8‐dihydro‐4__H__‐cyclohepta[__b__]furan and 2,6‐dimethyl‐7,8‐dihydro‐4__H__‐cyclohepta[__b__]thiophene were prepared by direct cyclization of 3‐methyl‐5‐(5‐methylfuran‐2‐yl)‐pent‐1‐en‐3‐ol and 3‐methyl‐5‐(5‐methyltiophen‐2‐yl)‐pent‐1‐en‐3‐ol, respectively.
