✦ Synopsis

Tetrahydro-1-naphthyl Ester as a Selective Protecting Group for Carboxylic Acids.

-Various esters derived from tetrahydronaphthol are prepared by standard procedures. The ester group is selectively cleaved under mild conditions in the presence of other esters. In addition, the tetrahydronaphthyl ester is shown to be stable to reagents such as DDQ, CAN as well as to sodium borohydride reduction and acetylation.
