✦ Synopsis
From electron paramagnetic resonance and thermally stimulated luminescence studies of y-irradiated UO$+ :SrS04, thermally stimulated reactions between H atoms and SO; have been identified as being responsible for the luminescence glow at 380 K. Close to this temperature, the EPR spectrum of hydrogen exhibits features compatible with chemically induced dynamic nuclear polarisation (CIDNP) suggesting that this reaction proceeds via the formation of radical pairs.
