β¦ Synopsis
A solution based wet chemistry approach has been developed for synthesizing Li SiO powders at moderate temperatures of 4 4 500ΠC. LiOH ΠΈ H O and LiNO have been used as starting materials for synthesizing this material in the present study. The phase 2 3 evolution behavior, surface area and morphology of the as-prepared and heat treated powders generated from both LiOH ΠΈ H O 2 and LiNO have been studied and compared in this work. The feasibility of synthesizing a Li SiO αLiNi Co O based 3 4 4 0.75 0.25 2
electrolyteαelectrode composite material using this chemical approach is also discussed and demonstrated.

The kinetics describing the thermal decomposition of Li 4 SiO 4 and Li 2 SiO 3 have been analysed. While Li 4 SiO 4 decomposed on Li 2 SiO 3 by lithium sublimation, Li 2 SiO 3 was highly stable at the temperatures studied. Li 4 SiO 4 began to decompose between 900 and 1000 1C. However, at 1100 1C or
