## Abstract A novel sterol, strongylosterol, has been isolated from the sponge __Strongylophora durissima.__ It has been demonstrated to be 3β‐hydroxy‐24°‐ethyl‐27‐methylcholesta‐5, 25(26)‐diene (1).
