β¦ Synopsis
We have synthesized new Ba-free Hg-bascd superconductors (Hgl-xMx)Sr2(Cal-yYy)n-1CunOz (n=1,2). These compounds are chemically anti structurally stal)ilized by partial substitution of the elemenLs M=Cr, Me and Re. While M-free compounds were multi-phased and supcrconducting volume fractions were less than 1%, M-doped Hg 1201-type compounds, (Hgl-xMx)Sr2CuOz, wcrc ncady single phascd and found to be superconductors with Tc's of 50-70K. Furthermore, by partially, substituting Y for Ca, wc have synthesizcd 1212-type compounds (Hg l_xMx)Sr2(Ca l-yYy)Cu2Oz with 7 c's-100K. In conlrast to the Ba-conmining compounds, the present materials are insensitive Io OlX:n air during the synthesis and also quite stable after the preparation.
