Swedish-based Trelleborg has acquired Norwegian company

Mehren Rubber A/S, and has also completed a new plant in China.

The purchase of Mehren Rubber, to join the Engineered Systems business of Trelleborg, is part of the company policy to expand in the offshore business. Mehren is a niche-oriented contract producer of down-hole packers for Easywell, a subsidiary of Halliburton. Its main product is Swell Packer, a down-hole packer designed to swell when in position.

The company has also inaugurated a newly constructed manufacturing facility for Sealing Solutions in the Shanghai region. The increased production capacity from this new plant means that Trelleborg is now better able to meet increasing demand from industry in China and the rest of Asia.
