β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
Bipolar electrolyte exchangers were synthesized by introducing both acidic and basic ion exchange groups into the same skeleton of a styreneβdivinylbenzene copolymer. The uptake of certain ions on resins of this kind differs from that achieved on monofunctional ionβexchange resins of the same composition. Ferric ions, etc., are bound over the nominal capacity of the resins. A variation of the ratio of acidic to basic groups in the resin causes variation of the equilibrium data in certain ionic mixtures.
