✦ Synopsis
A flow-mjectlon method based on use of a microwave oven to maxtmlze the rate of the oxldatlon step IS described The flow system consists of two hnes (water as carrier and potassium dlchromate-sulphunc acid mixture as reagent), three cods, of which the intermediate one (wound around a special strong microwave absorber support) acts as reaction ~011, a membrane degassmg unit and a spectrophotometrrc detector Parameters taken mto consideration were the oven capacity (the best results were obtamed at 180 W,j apphcatlon range (O-100 mg I-' COD), preclslon (R S D 2 12% at 40 mg 1-l COD) and detectlon hmlt (15 mg 1-l COD) Prelunmary appbcatlons were made to well, rwer (with low COD levels) and waste waters The results obtamed are m good agreement Hrlth those given by the manual reference method
