Chemical ionization (CI) mass spectrometry (MS) is a relatively new aspect of conventional mass spectrometry'. In this technique sample molecules are ionized via ion--molecule reactions in the gas phase, as opposed to the more common electron impact process. Thus, reagent gas ions, which are generat
