Dear Sirs, WE WOULD like to remark a gap in the Chemical Engineering Science issue of October 1970. The paper by R. J. Van Welsenaere and G. Froment "Parametric sensitivity and runaway in fixed bed catalytic reactors" describes a criterion for the evaluation of the tubular reactors sensitivity. Such a criterion is based on the presence of inflection points in the temperature profile before the maximum.
