Bufo bufo gargarizans Cantor (Fig.), commonly known as Chinese giant toad, is a terrestrial anuran, widely distributed in the eastern and southern provinces of China [1]. The skin of B. bufo gargarizans has long been used in traditional Chinese medicine, and reported to have antipyretic, detoxicant, diuresis, stasis-eliminative, and pus-discharging properties [2 -4]. A water-soluble preparation of B. bufo gargarizans skin, cinobufacini (Huachansu), has been widely used to treat various cancers and hepatitis B virus infection in China [5] [6]. Studying active compounds is important for the development of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
