โœฆ Synopsis

One of the tasks undertaken by Shell Research Limited at its Thornton Research Centre, Ellesmere Port in Cheshire, is to obtain a thorough knowledge of the physical and insulation properties of polyurethane foams used at cryogenic temperatures.

Collecting the necessary physical data for this purpose poses the problem of subjecting a foam sample to simulated performance tests at cryogenic temperatures.
