Sarah Garland is a retired homicide detective. Her morning begins with a lost puppy needing a home and a wonderful phone call from a friend who informs Sarah that a major movie studio wants to buy the rights to her books and turn them all into movies. Sarah quickly calls her friend Amanda. Together they along with the lost puppy drive to Los Angeles on an all-girls' trip instead of flying to meet the movie studio. But an upsetting phone call and flat tire leave Sarah and Amanda stranded on the side of a back country road in Oregon. A kind old man picks up Sarah and Amanda and drives them into town. Before the old man can get a half mile down the road, a flashy BMW appears and begins shooting at the old man's truck. But when the old man manages to duck into a driveway, the BMW races past leaving Sarah with many questions she becomes determined to answer. The local Sheriff tries to run her out of town, and the killer pays Sarah a visit and confesses his plan. Stranded, trapped, and desperate for the truth, Sarah dives into a mystery that takes her far from home and leaves her feeling isolated and confused. Will she survive the mind of a twisted killer and discover the truth or fall victim to desperation that finally places her under a dead-end street?
