✦ Synopsis

Molecular complexes between four 2H-pvrrole-N-oxides as well as one isoin

dole-N-oxide and 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyanobenzoquinone, t8traCyanOethylene and tetracyanoquinodimethane in dichloromethane at 25OC have been studied spectrophotometrically in the visible region. Stability constants and transition energies of the charge transfer complexes have been determined. At higher temperature (35'C) decomposition of the complexes has been observed. The ionization potentials of the donors were calculated from the energy of charge transfer transitions. The results show a strong positional effect and addivitv effect of the substitution and conjugation with the azomethine-N-oxide qroup.
