Abstract

The stabilities of doubly charged ions have been investigated by comparing the relative abundances of these ions in charge stripping spectra with their precursor ions in normal mass spectra. This study reveals differences in cross‐section for charge stripping of isobaric ions with different elemental compositions, and information is presented on the competition between collisional dissociation and collisional ionization.
