## Abstract **BACKGROUND:** Sulfamethazine (SMT) has received little attention in the water treatment literature. Yet, SMT is among the non‐biodegradable substances increasingly found in aqueous media and affecting both public health and wastewater treatments. For a long time, advanced oxidation pr
