## Abstract Mitochondrial respiration is inhibited in cells exposed to hypoxia, and the oxidation of NADH to NAD^+^ is blocked. As a result, oxidation reactions requiring NAD^+^ are blocked, disrupting cellular metabolism. We studied the influence of methylene blue, which oxidizes NADH, on hypoxic
