✦ Synopsis
We investigate the structure and the optical properties of hexagonally ordered rings of zinc oxide and zinc cadmium oxide, which were produced by nano-porous membranes on silicon substrates. These 'donuts' have an average diameter of 300 nm, they are about 100 nm high and are 350 nm apart from each other. The in uence of annealing at di erent temperatures was studied by scanning electron microscopy for structural quality and by photoluminescence spectroscopy for optical quality. Samples with di erent ratios of zinc and cadmium were investigated. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy proved the assumed composition of the 'donuts'.
