β¦ Synopsis
Ah&act-Palladium particles supported on microcrystalline graphite carbon were studied by high resolution electron microscopy (HREM), hydrogen chemisorption, and benzene hydrogenation after the gasification reaction in oxygen at 723 K. The results show that the particles preferentially react with the surface by the pitting mode in imperfect regions of graphite. In addition, the number of palladium surface atoms and the active sites for benzene hydrogenation were increased due to the redispersion process of the metal during the gasification reaction.

A procedure is described for the determination of submicrogram quantities of palladium in sea water, biological and geological materials. Palladium is preconcentrated by coprecipitation with a-benzildioxime at pH 2 in the presence of citric acid followed by neutron activation. The method is highly s
