β¦ Synopsis
This paper describes the application ofboth SEM and freeze-fracture TEMfor the characterization of artificial lipid vesicles (liposomes). Size and shape may be observed in the SEM technique whereas the inner structure could be investigated best in pictures obtained using the freeze-fracture method.
π SIMILAR VOLUMES
Morphological similarities between virgin ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) powder and debris retrieved from failed UHMWPE total joint implants motivated this study's objective: to establish the internal microstructural features of consolidated UHMWPE. Cylindrical specimens were cored
## Abstract Paired helical filaments (PHFs) are abnormal twisted filaments composed of hyperphosphorylated tau protein. They are found in Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders designated as tauopathies. They are a major component of intracellular inclusions known as neurofibrill
## Abstract A comparative study of atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) imaging of the healthy human liver parenchyma was carried out to determine the similarities and the differences. In this study, we compared the fine hepatic structures as observed by SEM and AFM.
## Abstract Several processing techniques of digital images allowed us to quantify the percentage of cell surface covered by microprojections (microvilli or microplicae) (SCM), the adhesion between epithelial cells by the parameter intercellular junctions (IJ), the size (cell area), shape (cell sha
