✦ Synopsis

Evolution strategies are heuristic optimization techniques which emulate biological systems. In this paper first it is shown that they can be formulated as one-dimensional maps and that they can be extremely sensitive to initial conditions. Then it is shown how this chaotic behavior can be exploited to efficiently conduct search operations for a globally optimal solution.
