✦ Synopsis

Liquid crystalline properties and structural analysis of a series of siloxane copolymers with mesogenic side-groups from phenyl benzoate are investigated. Comparable effects of the composition of these copolymers and of the mole fraction in binary mixtures of low molecular weight mesogens is observed. In contrast, blends of homopolymers reveal immiscibility even in cases where the two mesogenic groups are chemically similar favouring strong associations.
