The serotonin and histamine content of mast cells and white blood cells in adult male and female rats was compared, using a flow cytometric immunological method. Serotonin was significantly higher in female peritoneal mast cells, peritoneal monocyte-ganulocyte-macrophage cells, blood lymphocytes and
