A simple and highly efficient procedure for the Biginelli condensation reaction of aldehydes, β‐ketoesters, urea, or thiourea catalyzed by Ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN) as a Lewis‐acid at ambient temperature is described. The procedure proved to be simple and of high yield. J. Heterocyclic Chem., (2010).
