โฆ Synopsis
The polymerization of 4-vinylpyridine directly intiated by ceric ammonium nitrate has been investigated. Conversion and ceric ion consumption were studied as a function of reaction variables. Increasing the concentrations of monomer, initiator and ntiric acid each favoured the conversion; it increased with rising temperature up to a certain point but then decreased. Ceric consumption during polymerization was increased as each of the factors was increased.
