β¦ Synopsis
In the first article of this series Stan Shiels looked at the area of centrifugal pump hydraulic troubleshooting and addressed the results of a hydraulic performance assessment. When such an assessment is not possible, due to the inability to run the pump to obtain performance data, or any other reason, good detective work can often lead to problem resolution. The diagnosis may not be as certain, but will often turn out to be correct. This secondary approach, which incorporates many aspects that should be addressed even when a performance test is possible, is discussed. The primary problem being addressed is: "The failure to attain a required flow rate, which would normally be expected of the pump.
