โฆ Synopsis
n October 10 and 11, over three dozen scientists from around the world gathered at the Field Museum in Chicago in a tribute to the life and legacy of Louis Seymore Bazett Leakey (1903Leakey ( -1972)). The Centennial Tribute to Louis Leakey, sponsored by the Leakey Foundation of San Francisco (www.leakeyfoundation. com) and the Field Museum, included two days of lively discussions, presentations, demonstrations, and tours.
The highlight of the first afternoon was a series of roundtable discussions. In the first discussion, devoted to "Hominid Origins," the discussants agreed that the fossil record certainly documents a divergence date for early hominids well into the late Miocene.
