โœฆ Synopsis

Plasticating extrusion is one of the most widely used techniques for processing thermoplastics. The design of the extruder screw is generally carried out empirically. The book written by Natti S. Rao represents a detailed step-by-step program for computer-aided design of plastica'ting screws based on Tadmor's model only; it is not suitable for other models such as Bernhardt's.

The book and the program require fluent knowledge and usage of Fortran or basic computer languages. It is no doubt a worthwhile addition to the library of a plastic equipment manufacturer with trained computer programmers on its staff.

N. S. Rao's book cannot be recommended in such situations where it will be referred to infrequently; it can be used to advantage only by individuals who are immersed in the technique.
